RIO LAGARTOS

Rio Lagartos is a fishing village with friendly people, and excellent fresh seafood.  Here we will board small launches and to enjoy an amazing boat ride that is approximately 40 kms long to visit the flamingos’ foraging area.  43,000 Flamingos have been recorded in the Yucatan, the majority of which nest and feed in the Rio Lagartos area.

Along the way your guides will point out and identify many of the species that live and visit the area.  A total of 395 different species have been counted in Rio Lagartos.  Crocodiles are normally spotted each trip.

The return trip includes a stop at the salt ponds and will be followed by a “BaƱo Maya” with white clay mud and your choice of a swim at a nearby beach or in a fresh water spring.

We finish our tour with a delicious meal of local fresh caught seafood prepared to suit your taste.
